This would create a mood wherein humans are weaker at the beginning, but level up faster due to their better adaptability.kwllhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11412338237917512262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4903168749564119906.post-25307678081961055982012-03-31T04:09:50.481-04:002012-03-31T04:09:50.481-04:00I like the "Replace one die roll with a '...I like the "Replace one die roll with a '6' " option. I thought about more gold, but I think I would give humans a cheaper price as everything is human size anyway. But it is by no means guaranteed. In my eight attribute rolls above using this method, I managed to roll one six out of 24 six-sided dice.

Interesting idea for leveling non-humans. What is the in-game effect of this pilgrimage? Is the character out of play for a while?Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06566438657075402308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4903168749564119906.post-3223964216792414212012-03-30T21:54:29.121-04:002012-03-30T21:54:29.121-04:00No it does not need to be the lowest, good point. ...No it does not need to be the lowest, good point. You can certainly drop a higher die if it results in triples and are using the 7th edition TARO rule (there is no TARO in 5th ed). But, your second roll should be with 3 dice only. Of course this can be a slight gamble if your triples are all ones.

I do like your two other options. In the first, do you give different kin different X and Y values? Say humans Roll 4, Keep 3; Dwarves Roll 5, Keep 3?

Thanks for catching the typo.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06566438657075402308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4903168749564119906.post-35524279082253101892012-03-30T11:06:25.796-04:002012-03-30T11:06:25.796-04:00Option No.3 in the original post could also dramat...Option No.3 in the original post could also dramatically increase the chance of a very high TARO, e.g. 1, 6, 6 could transform a meagre 13 into a whopping 18+TARO!

I have a completely, non-attribute-related idea to improve the appeal of human PCs: non-humans must go back to their home land (the mountains for a dwarf, the forests for an elf, "fey hills" for leprechaun, etc.) to be trained each time they go up a level.賈尼https://www.blogger.com/profile/03207671300903490067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4903168749564119906.post-72892714766853638262012-03-30T04:42:11.395-04:002012-03-30T04:42:11.395-04:00Good options. Does it have to be drop the lowe...Couple thoughts.

Does it have to be drop the lowest? Or drop one dice. It increases the chance of TARO. e.g. 5,3,3,3. Lowest would be one of the 3s for an 11. Dropp the five and it's 9 +TARO.

Alternatively. I've played around with all character generation being 'Roll X, keep Y' number of dice. No multiplication modifiers. And instead of TARO, the rule is if all the dice used have the same number-roll another die and add to the total score; if it is the same number roll another die, and so on.

Another alternate from Basic D&D. Player may re-roll any or all attributes, but has to take the re-roll as the score. It tends to minimize low scores, but not drive up overall score too much. Few people will re-roll anything higher than a nine.

Also, typo in the first example 70 x 1.5?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
